Rea

I met Rea and her husband while they were waiting in line at a mobile medical clinic in Tampa, Florida. Each night, they sleep outside on the streets of Miami. Rea hates to feel dirty, so she uses public fountains to wash up.

Rea and her husband are not homeless because of alcohol or drugs. Rea suffers from physical problems and her husband is bipolar. They came to Florida in hopes of finding a job. But today, like millions of Americans, they have not been able to find employment.

In my life I have lost two homes. The whole home purchase concept as the best investment, private ownership, and a sign of responsibility have been sold to the American people.

Along with the propaganda of home ownership has been the unsrupulous lenders, mortgage industry, home builders, politicians, your employer, and now Wall street interest all propagating a huge scheme to steal the publics equity, down payment, and finally your home, and result in your homelessness.

Our society at present, has to be the most predatory in all of human history. The corporate capitalist class has taken over our government. I once thought that Obama could turn things around, but after watching him for 6 months, I feel that he has been brought and paid for already.

I pray for the 2012 Mayan prophecy and the total collapse of our present system, to be replaced by one where cooperative sharing is the norm instead of the jungle concept now taking place.

I concur with Terrance. Somewhere our culture/society became this predatory entity that devours the weakest amongst us. I’m 57 and have lived and watched this derailing of our society and it is scary.
