“It sucks being homeless. And I don’t ever want to see my little girl homeless.”

This was the first thing Jessica said when I met her in Anchorage. She and her 1-year-old daughter are currently living with Jessica’s aunt, who sometimes kicks them out when she’s angry.

She’s a young mother, obviously scared to be on the streets any longer. It’s a face we don’t usually associate with homelessness. Instead of three wishes, she only had one, tearful wish: to go home.

I am moved to tears listening to her story. I pray God will reveal to her the wisdom, honesty and humility she needs to reconnect with her family. I have a 4 year old daughter and can't imagine not knowing where she will lay her head at night, or if she is safe. Thank you for sharing these images!! It's very raw, but very touching, as well.

How can we make changes? Is there anything we can do to make it better?

Hey guys, I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I thought that I would let you know. The average home price in Detroit, MI is $5,700. I found one on realtor.com that is $99! Obama's stimulus program pays for your down payment on much of them, but $99!! Not a good neighborhood, but people are growing their own food. Just wanted to let you know.

thanks for the comment. I agree, she was probably even drunk when I taped this. Homelessness is horrible and people want to escape. I was one, and now have over 15 years sober.
