About Our Newsroom

Invisible People is an independent nonprofit newsroom dedicated exclusively to reporting on homelessness and related issues, including housing, healthcare, poverty, criminalization, and public policy. Through authentic storytelling, original journalism, and lived experience, we show homelessness as it really is, challenge misinformation, and help shape a more accurate public understanding of homelessness and its solutions.

Our Mission

We believe how the public understands homelessness directly shapes whether policies help solve homelessness or make the crisis worse. Our journalism educates the public and policymakers, confronts the misperceptions that keep root causes hidden, amplifies the voices of homeless people, and examines the policies and systems that shape homelessness, housing, and healthcare.

Who We Are

Invisible People’s newsroom is led by a small, dedicated team of journalists, advocates, and people with lived experience of homelessness, including:

Mark Horvath, Founder & CEO – A pioneering force in narrative change and content creator known for authentic storytelling about homelessness, Mark draws on his own lived experience of homelessness to challenge the narratives that shape public perception. He founded Invisible People in 2008.

Erin Wisneski, Managing Editor – An award-winning journalist with over 20 years of editorial experience, Erin oversees editorial operations and works closely with journalists and lived experience writers.

Our team also includes part-time contributors, guest columnists, and video storytellers.

Note: Some contributors publish under pseudonyms due to safety or privacy concerns. All submitted content is verified by editorial staff for authenticity and accuracy.
