Robyn and Mickey

Robyn and Mickey are both 17 years-old and homeless in Ottawa, Canada. Once Mickey begins to talk, you can tell that these young adults have aged beyond their years.

Robyn says that because shelters will not take dogs or allow them all to stay together, that they’d rather stay on the streets sleeping rough.

On their first night homeless both of them were stressed and scared. They stayed under a bridge until someone gave them a tent and they now live in the woods. The Salvation Army outreach team took me there, and looked like their sleeping bags and everything they had was soaked from the rain. Clearly, this is no way for people to live.

No way for 17 year-old’s to live!

Very special thanks to Ottawa Salvation Army and Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness.

The story of Robin and Mickey’s sad and moving. It’s shocking that they are in the street to their ages. Fortunately they keep hope, playing music and keeping their smiled. Through this video, we see that it is not always easy. How nice of them to testify.

Wow…I just wanted to tell you that i’m your age and to see young people like you with such ambition and in such a situation is rare. You could do so many things and go so far, it is not to everyone to be able to stay positive in this kind of situation. This could happen to any of us, at any time, but not everyone would react like you do.It can’t rain all the time, stay positive because if bad things happened to you, they will not last eternally, good things are about to come for you because you deserve it.
    Keep fighting.
