How To Republish Our Content

Invisible People’s mission is to educate the public about homelessness and related issues through original journalism and authentic storytelling. We encourage you to republish our articles for free to help this reporting reach more people, as long as you follow these guidelines.

If you republish our work, we’d love to know. Please contact us.

Article Republishing Guidelines

  1. Give us credit. Credit Invisible People and the author, ideally in this format: “By [Author Name], Invisible People.”
  2. You may edit for style, not substance. Minor changes for grammar, formatting, or house style are fine, but do not change the meaning, context, tone, or reporting.
  3. Disclose additional reporting. If you add reporting or make changes beyond style edits, include a note such as: “Additional reporting by [Your Outlet].”
  4. Link back to the original story. If you publish online, you must include a visible link to the original Invisible People article and keep the links that appear in the original story.
  5. Use the canonical URL when possible. In addition to the visible link above, please use the original Invisible People article URL as the canonical link in your page metadata when possible.
  6. Preserve image credits and rights. Images may have separate copyright, licensing, and attribution requirements. If an image is available for republication, preserve the original photo credit and attribution exactly as it appears with the Invisible People story. Some images are licensed from photographers, agencies, or other third parties and may not be available for republication. Do not use images separately from the article without permission. When in doubt, contact us before using an image.
  7. Include this description when possible: Invisible People is an independent nonprofit newsroom reporting on homelessness and related issues through original journalism and authentic storytelling.
  8. Mention Invisible People when sharing on social media. If you share the republished story, please tag or mention Invisible People when possible.
  9. Don’t sell or syndicate our work. Our articles are free to republish, but you may not sell, license, or redistribute them to third parties. Bulk or automated republication is not permitted.
  10. Advertising is allowed with limits. You may publish our work on a page that includes advertising you have already sold, but do not sell ads specifically against our content or place advertising in a way that implies Invisible People endorses a product, service, or organization.
  11. Don’t use our content primarily for search or ad revenue. Our work may not be used to populate websites designed primarily to generate advertising revenue or manipulate search rankings.

Important: Some articles include reporting or content from partner organizations or third-party contributors. Those pieces may not be available for republication.

Videos, Podcasts, and Other Multimedia

Our original videos, documentaries, stories from homeless people, and podcasts are not covered by the article republication guidelines above. We encourage you to share this work using the official embed or sharing tools provided by platforms such as YouTube and podcast services, with clear credit to Invisible People and a link back to the original content when possible. Embedded content must remain intact and may not be used in a way that suggests Invisible People endorses another organization, product, campaign, or fundraising effort.

Downloading, editing, re-uploading, republishing, or otherwise distributing our video or audio content requires permission.

Photos, graphics, and other media that appear as part of a newsroom article are governed by the image rights and attribution guidelines above. Some media may have separate copyright or licensing requirements, so if you’re unsure, contact us before using it.
