Homer

Homer has been sleeping rough in London for the last 20 years. Homer has tried staying in hostels, but he feels it’s like being in prison.

Homer basically has been in the system all his life. At the age of 3 months, he was in a children’s home and then transitioned into a boy’s hostel when he got older.

Near the end of this video Homer shares about the realities of life and death on the streets. It’s very powerful and I hope you watch to the end.

This video was recorded on the last night of my stay, but I actually met Homer on the day I arrived. When we first met he didn’t want to be on video and I always respect everyone’s wishes. Over the next week or so I stopped and talked to him, gave him socks, and just made general conversation every time I saw him. When I stopped to say good-bye he requested that I video his story. It was an amazing moment and I am honored to have spent enough time with Homer to call him a friend

Special thanks to St Mungo’s Broadway and Mencap

We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Until then, we strive to be the most trusted source for homelessness.
